Emergency Medical Services - EMS

Gunnison Valley Hospital is very grateful to the men and women of our award winning and nationally renowned EMS Department. They continue to provide an outstanding service to our community and we are not alone in acknowledging the efforts put forward by this group of devoted people.

The GVH-EMS Department covers an area of nearly twice the size of the State of Delaware. Because of our location they are trained to deal with a vast array of emergencies. Whether it is rappeling, responding on horseback, snowcat, snowmobile or ATV our highly trained men and women make it their mission to provide the care needed for any situation.

Our EMTs work with various local, regional, state and federal agencies in providing first response education to ensure of visitors and residents are provided with the utmost medical care when an emergency arises in our outlying areas.

Several flight programs compliment Gunnison Valley Hospital EMS service with helicopter "med-evac" service in major trauma situations.

Public Education

Gunnison Valley Health's Emergency Medical Services offers several Public Education opportunities throughout the year to help prepare our community members for emergency situations.

Emergency Department


GVH Hospital's Emergency Department is located off of Denver St. and Iowa St. in Gunnison, Colorado (behind City Market & Meadows Shopping Center). Emergency Drop-Off Parking is located directly outside the Emergency Entrance.

Featuring Colorado Neurological Institute's CO-DOC Telemedicine Unit, telestroke care which enables patients in rural communities to be treated virtually by a neorologist at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.
