Low cost blood draws are a huge hit in the community.
The Gunnison Valley community came out in full force for the recent blood draws organized by Gunnison Valley Health earlier this month. Drawing over 1,200 people in a matter of three mornings confirms these events are extremely valuable to the community.
Gunnison Valley Health’s CEO Rob Santilli said the events would not be possible without the dedication and commitment from the staff at Gunnison Valley Health.
“These type of events do not happen overnight and it takes an incredible team to make them happen,” said Mr. Santilli. “Thank you to our organizers, volunteers, phlebotomists and everyone involved. Your time, hard work and willingness to provide such a valuable service to our community is greatly appreciated.”
For over 20 years, Gunnison Valley Health has been providing low cost blood draws to the Gunnison and Crested Butte communities. Each year the momentum and participation rates at the events grow and this year is no exception. Gunnison’s early blood draws confirmed a 16% increase in participation proving the efforts of staging these events are worthwhile to our community.
For many people the blood draws provide an opportunity to check-in on their health once a year. Those who participated in the tests will receive their results online with 7 days or in the form of a booklet within four weeks.
Gunnison Valley Health’s Director of Marketing Kylie Murgatroyd said there is still one more chance for community members to have their blood tested at the Wellness Fair in May.
“The Wellness Fair will not only be the last chance for a low cost blood draw, it will be an opportunity to receive a free wellness checkup and visit with many health professionals in our community,” said Ms. Murgatroyd.
“Those who attend the wellness fair can speak to a doctor about their blood results, understand their body mass index, have a skin screening and many more other tests related to their health,” she said.
Gunnison Valley Health is committed to being a leader in keeping our community healthy. The Wellness Fair is a free community event and will take place at the Fred Field Center in Gunnison on Saturday May 4 from 6:30am to 11am. No appointments are required for the blood tests although participants must fast for 12 hours prior.
