Gunnison Valley Health, with the support of Gunnison County Health and Human Services, will be resuming free COVID testing next week. Beginning on Monday, July 12, appointments for testing will be available between 8:45 and 9:30 a.m.
For individuals requiring testing for surgeries: Contact the Gunnison Valley Health Admissions department to schedule testing. You will need to know ahead of time if a rapid NAAT test or a send-out PCR test is required by your surgeon. When you have that information, please call (970) 642-4766. Also, understand that this is a screening test, which will be billed through your insurance, just like any other pre-surgical lab work.
For all other community members requiring testing: Contact Health and Human Services staff at (970) 641-3244. Staff will work with you to schedule and answer questions or provide information as needed.
All testing will occur at the testing site located in the parking lot of the Gunnison Valley Health hospital. The testing that occurs will be the same PCR testing through COVID Check Colorado, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), that has been happening for quite some time.
We are thrilled to be able to continue to meet this important need for the community and are grateful for the continued support from Joni Reynolds and her team.
We appreciate the patience of the community as we get this interim solution in place and the community moves to a permanent solution for COVID testing.
