Gunnison Valley Health Announces Changes to Hospital Visitor Policy
- Posted On:
We are thrilled to announce changes to our hospital visitor policy. These changes are possible due to a continued decrease in community spread of COVID-19 and the success of our infection prevention procedures.
Note: These changes do not apply to the Senior Care Center or Assisted Living facility.
Effective February 25, 2022:
- All visitors are required to be screened prior to entry and wear a face covering, preferably a hospital-grade mask which will be provided upon request.
- There are no defined visiting hours; however, visitation may be restricted based on the criteria set forth in the Gunnison Valley Health visitor policy.
- Any visitor under the age of twelve must be accompanied by an adult.
- Department differences:
- Patient Care Unit: limited to three (3) visitors at one time.
- Emergency Department: limited to one (1) visitor at a time.
- Surgical Services: limited to one (1) visitor at a time.
- Family Birth Center: Visitors to the OB department shall be screened according to their health status, to the patient’s desires, and nursing discretion according to the care needs of the patient.
- Pediatrics: There are no visiting hours enforced for the parents, legal guardian(s) or designee of pediatric patients. The discretion of the attending provider and nursing staff must be used.
- End-of-Life: A physician overseeing end-of-life care may choose to make exceptions to the rules of this policy, if it is deemed appropriate for the well-being of the patient.
