Gunnison Valley Health Invites Community to Participate in the 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment

Every three years, Gunnison Valley Health conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment in order to solicit input from the local community about its healthcare needs. The assessment serves as a guide for Gunnison Valley Health as they establish priorities and services. The survey is available to all full and part time Gunnison County residents through February 14.

According to Gunnison Valley Health CEO Jason Amrich, the community’s response to the assessment will have a direct impact on the services offered and initiatives launched by Gunnison Valley Health.

“The Community Health Needs Assessment is extremely valuable as we look at future services and strategic priorities for the year,” Amrich said. “The assessment tells us what our community identifies as gaps in healthcare services, enabling us to work with our community partners and providers to best meet the needs of the community.”

Gunnison Valley Health last completed a Community Health Needs Assessment in 2019. The results indicated two main priorities, behavioral health and affordability. Since completion of the survey, Gunnison Valley Health worked to address both priorities, implementing new initiatives and services. The health system launched a new behavioral health department which includes outpatient services, a mobile crisis team, school-based services, peer support services and jail-based services. To address affordability, Gunnison Valley Health’s work included implementation of a Financial Assistance Program for hospital and Family Medicine Clinic patients, the opening of an Urgent Care Clinic to expand services and implementation numerous quality measures to reduce readmissions.

“One unique aspect of this year’s survey is the addition of specific questions focused on what services people leave the valley to receive,” Amrich continued. “We want this health system to truly be designed around the people who call the Gunnison Valley home and that means working to provide the quality healthcare you need close to the place you call home.”
