The Gunnison Valley Health Foundation is excited to announce the launch of a new Ambassador Program designed to support residents at the Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) Senior Care Center (SCC) and patients at the hospital.
Gunnison Valley Health Foundation Executive Director, Jenny Birnie, said the Ambassador Program aligns well with the mission of the foundation and the health system’s focus on patient experience.
“The Foundation Ambassador Program is a project that we have been interested in launching for quite some time and something that we believe will be beneficial for our residents, patients and the community as a whole,” Birnie said. “By recruiting volunteers to support at the Senior Care Center and hospital, we have the opportunity to expand access and support hardworking GVH teams while simultaneously improving resident and patient experience.”
Currently all volunteers are required to be over the age of 18 and complete an application process including review by the Foundation Volunteer Committee. The program will expand in the future to younger volunteers and more opportunities will be available.
Currently, the program is seeking volunteers to support with:
- Resident activities at the SCC
- A variety of events at both the SCC and the hospital
- Greeting patients at the hospital
- Helping patients navigate the hospital
“We want to ensure this program has the right structure and foundation to be successful for our volunteers and organization,” Birnie continued. “The foundation is committed to ensuring this program is around for years to come.”
