Gunnison Valley Health Welcomes Two Physicians to the Family Medicine Clinic

Gunnison Valley Health is pleased to announce the addition of two physicians to its Family Medicine Clinic. Dr. Bill Gattis, who specializes in family medicine, will join the clinic in January and Dr. Maija Swanson, who specializes in family practice obstetrics, and will begin seeing patients in February.

Dr. Gattis has been providing coverage at the clinic over the summer giving him the opportunity to get to know the clinic and some of its patients. He has a special interest in the management of complex medical issues and the integration of mental health care into primary care. Dr. Gattis has been providing care in the Gunnison Valley for many years, most recently at the Lake City Medical Clinic.

Dr. Swanson specializes in family practice obstetrics and will add the ability to provide full spectrum prenatal, labor and delivery and postpartum care. Dr. Swanson’s training enables her to provide comprehensive medical care to individuals and families across all ages and stages of life. Dr. Swanson is coming to Gunnison Valley Health from California where she has been part of a full spectrum family practice that included newborn, pediatric and adult care including deliveries.

Gunnison Valley Health CEO, Jason Amrich, said that the two physicians will bring more capacity and expand services at the clinic.

“Dr. Gattis and Dr. Swanson will join our existing physicians and providers ensuring that Gunnison Valley Health has the expertise and capacity to provide a full scope of primary care services,” Amrich said. “Our primary group now has the depth of experience and training necessary to care for people throughout their lives.”

Dr. Gattis and Dr. Swanson join internal medicine physician, Dr. Lauren Sullenberger, pediatrician, Dr. Amanda Hill, and a group of skilled physician assistants and nurse practitioners. The group has a vast array of experience and expertise creating a strong foundation for the thriving clinic and giving patients choices in care for themselves and their families.
