Gunnison Tough Continues to Support Cancer Patients with Donation to Gunnison Valley Health

Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) is proud to announce a generous donation from Gunnison Tough, a local non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the community through comprehensive cancer care programs and its goal to serve all cancers and stages of treatment and recovery. Gunnison Tough recently contributed $9,519 to support GVH’s oncology and cancer rehabilitation services, which funded the purchase of essential equipment, including a blanket warmer, a blanket cart and new treatment tables.

Barb Kaiser, a Physical Therapist at GVH specializing in cancer rehabilitation and survivorship, emphasized the significance of the donation.

“Cancer rehabilitation is about more than physical recovery; it’s about ensuring patients feel safe and supported throughout their journey,” Kaiser said. “Thanks to Gunnison Tough, we can offer enhanced comfort and care, improving the overall experience for our patients. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support and dedication.”

The new high-low treatment tables, equipped with safety bars on both sides, provide a safer and more comfortable environment for both patients and providers. These tables can be easily adjusted during treatment, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted care. Meanwhile, the blanket warmer and cart address the common issue of thermoregulation in oncology patients, who often feel cold during treatment. Offering a warm blanket helps patients relax and focus on their care, fostering a comforting and healing environment.

With the addition of this equipment, GVH’s team is better equipped to deliver immediate, comfortable care in both the Cancer Center and the Physical Therapy Department. This donation aligns perfectly with GVH’s mission to provide exceptional, holistic care for its patients.
