Spotlight On: Life Enrichment Services at the Senior Care Center

At Gunnison Valley Health, we believe that it's never too late to learn and enjoy everything the Gunnison Valley has to offer, regardless of age. One way we embody this belief is through the Senior Care Center’s Life Enrichment Program. The driving force behind this program is the goal of improving and enriching the lives of all our Senior Care Center residents every day. The team at the Senior Care Center is dedicated to enhancing residents' lives, whether through healthcare needs or by fostering their desires and passions. This month let's take a moment to highlight this incredible program and the fantastic team behind it.

The Life Enrichment Program is designed to honor the residents’ passions, drawing from their rich life experiences while nurturing their future aspirations and goals. Every day, our Life Enrichment Program offers a diverse array of activities encompassing spiritual, physical, cognitive and psychosocial arenas. All the activities are tailored to cater to the unique interests and needs of each resident, fostering a vibrant and engaging atmosphere within our community. The program is run by a group of talented CNAs who pour a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and creativity into providing care and companionship for the residents.

Katy Walck, Gunnison Valley Health Life Enrichment Coordinator highlights the pivotal role of CNAs within the Senior Care Center’s activity department.

"Life enrichment caregivers are integral to our community’s heart and soul. They play a vital role in organizing activities, sharing innovative event ideas and actively participating in their execution. From arranging beloved pet visits to organizing creative activities like rock painting and spontaneous tea parties, our CNAs contribute creativity and compassion to daily life."

Katy also emphasizes the personalized care provided by CNAs, including helping to facilitate outings, ensuring resident comfort and maintaining open lines of communication with residents and their entire care team. This collaborative approach ensures that every resident receives the individualized attention and companionship they deserve. At the Gunnison Valley Health Senior Care Center, the team’s commitment extends well beyond physical care as they are truly fostering a community where each resident feels valued and empowered to pursue their passions. Through the dedication of our CNAs and the carefully planned activities of our Life Enrichment Program, we are proud to celebrate the lives and contributions of the residents.
