Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) is pleased to announce its lineup of 2025 wellness events, designed to support preventive care and help community members take charge of their health. These annual initiatives, including low-cost blood testing and a dedicated sports physical clinic, reflect GVH’s commitment to accessible, high-quality care for all.

2025 Low-Cost Blood Testing Events

A complete list of available tests and pricing is available at gunnisonvalleyhealth.org/wellness.

Please Note: Beginning in 2025, carotid artery screenings will no longer be offered at these events. This change is based on guidance from GVH medical staff and nationally recognized best practices.

While carotid artery scans may seem beneficial, they are not routinely recommended for people without symptoms or specific risk factors. In some cases, these scans can lead to false positives, unnecessary anxiety, or follow-up procedures that carry their own risks. If you are concerned about your stroke risk or vascular health, we encourage you to consult with your primary care provider to determine what screenings are appropriate for your individual needs.

2025 GVH Sports Physical Clinic

GVH’s Sports Physical Clinic returns this summer to help student athletes stay healthy, safe, and game-ready for the school year.

Location: Fred Field Center
Date: Wednesday, July 30
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $35 (Cash or Check Only)

Sports physicals are a requirement of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and are designed to:

  • Identify underlying health conditions
  • Prevent injuries through early detection
  • Ensure athletes are physically prepared for participation

Reminders:

  • A parent or guardian must accompany athletes under 18
  • Spanish interpretation will be available
  • Payment is due at the time of service (cash or check only)

Please Note: This clinic is intended for middle and high school athletes only. College athletes should consult their primary care provider for a full medical clearance.

A sports physical is not the same as an annual wellness visit. While both are important, the sports physical specifically focuses on athletic participation. If your child is due for their annual check-up, ask your provider if the CHSAA physical can be completed at the same time.

Whether you’re looking to stay ahead of your health with routine bloodwork or get your student athlete ready for the season, Gunnison Valley Health is here to support your wellness goals.

“At Gunnison Valley Health, we are not only committed to providing high quality healthcare services, but we also want to offer accessible services to all,” said GVH CEO Jason Amrich. “These wellness events are one way that we can offer the community access to affordable health screenings.”
