Gunnison Valley Health is thrilled to announce a major step forward in patient care and technology. Starting May 3, 2025, we will transition to Epic, the gold standard in electronic health record (EHR) systems. This upgrade represents a transformative moment for our community, offering a more connected and patient-focused healthcare experience.
Made possible through UCHealth’s Community Connect Partner program, this transition enhances our technological capabilities while preserving our independence as a locally managed health system. UCHealth’s program is designed to support rural hospitals like ours by offering advanced healthcare technology and solutions without altering local governance or merging operations.
The introduction of Epic brings an array of enhancements that will improve the patient experience:
- One Unified Health Record: All your medical information will be seamlessly connected across Gunnison Valley Health departments and services. This eliminates duplicate records and ensures your care team has a comprehensive view of your health.
- Enhanced Access to Your Health Information: Through the user-friendly MyChart patient portal, you can view test results, visit summaries and manage appointments, all from the convenience of your phone or computer.
- Simplified Billing and Payments: MyChart also centralizes your billing information, making it easier to view statements, make payments and track your healthcare expenses securely.
- Stronger Care Coordination: Epic improves the way healthcare providers collaborate, both within our community and beyond. A key feature of this system is Epic Care Everywhere, a powerful tool that enables secure sharing of your medical records across organizations that use Epic. This means your health information travels with you—whether you're visiting a specialist in another city, seeking urgent care while traveling or transitioning to a different provider.
Care Everywhere ensures that critical health data, such as medications, allergies, past procedures and test results, is readily accessible to your care team when and where it’s needed. By eliminating communication gaps between healthcare providers, Epic helps prevent delays, duplicate testing and potential medical errors.
Epic’s robust platform doesn’t just improve patient care—it empowers our clinical teams to work more effectively. Real-time information sharing, streamlined workflows and powerful analytics allow our providers to focus on what matters most: you. With Epic, our team is better equipped to deliver high-quality, personalized care.
As the leading EHR system used by many of the nation’s top hospitals, Epic is known for its reliability, innovation and security. Its advanced tools enhance both patient care and operational efficiency, ensuring Gunnison Valley Health remains at the forefront of modern healthcare.
“The implementation of Epic represents a major milestone in our commitment to delivering the highest quality care to our community,” said Jason Amrich, CEO of Gunnison Valley Health. “With Epic, we can provide a seamless, state-of-the-art healthcare experience while maintaining the personalized touch that our community values.”
As we prepare for this exciting transition, Gunnison Valley Health remains dedicated to ensuring a smooth implementation process. We will continue to share updates and details to keep you informed every step of the way.
