After an illness, injury or surgery, some patients may require additional skilled care before returning home. Swing bed services offer individualized skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to help you have the time you need to recover.

What are swing bed services?

Swing bed services cater to patients who no longer need round-the-clock acute care but still require further rehabilitation or skilled nursing before safely returning home. Patients receive high-quality care, ensuring families feel confident that their loved ones are recovering in a secure and compassionate setting. Our ultimate goal is to help you resume your everyday life and enjoy the activities you love at home.

What we offer.

There are different reasons why patients need swing bed services. No matter the reason, our team will work with you to develop an individualized plan of care designed around your objectives and needs.

  • Nursing Care: Skilled care, pain management and education.
  • Physical Therapy: Rehabilitation to support strength building, fall prevention, improved balance and flexibility and the ability to resume activities.
  • Occupational Therapy: Individualized therapy focused on daily living skills.
  • Speech Therapy: Therapy focused on communication skills and safe swallowing.
  • Respiratory Therapy: Education on proper use of oxygen and respiratory care.
  • Wound Care: Specialized wound care to maximize healing and improve comfort throughout the process.
  • Long-Term IV Antibiotics: Our clinical team can support with the safe administration of IV medications and treatments.

Helping you get home.

When you have met your recovery goals and it is time to go home, our team will support a successful transition. We offer support with:

  • Connecting to community resources.
  • Arranging in-home care.
  • Education and guidance on necessary in-home medical equipment and supplies.
  • Finding appropriate living arrangements if necessary.

Insurance and eligibility.

Swing bed services are Medicare covered services. Many insurance companies provide coverage through skilled nursing benefits. Self-pay is also an option for swing bed services.

Medicare benefits cover swing bed services in full for up to 20 days and with a co-payment for up to an additional 80 days.

The length of a swing bed stay varies based on your individual needs. Care can range from a few days to a few months.
