LSVT BIG
LSVT BIG is an intensive and effective physical and occupational therapy
approach to treating individuals with Parkinson’s disease. People
living with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions
often experience difficulty moving, with gestures and actions that become
smaller and slower. LSVT BIG effectively trains improved movements for
any activity, from buttoning a shirt to walking up the stairs.
Research has shown Parkinson’s patients significantly improve in
the following areas through treatment using the LSVT BIG program:
Faster walking with bigger steps
Balance
Trunk rotation
Daily activities such as bed mobility
LSVT LOUD
LSVT LOUD is an intensive speech therapy program that treats voice and
speech disorders in people with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Although
developed for patients at all stages of PD, LSVT LOUD has applications
to other neurological disorders resulting in speech difficulty.
Research has shown Parkinson’s patients significantly improve in
the following areas through LSVT LOUD treatment:
Vocal loudness
Articulation and speech intelligibility
Intonation
Facial expression
