An insurance authorization is a process made by your insurance to check
the reasoning behind a medical service. This includes imaging, surgery,
medications, physical therapy and other treatment plans. It is sometimes
called prior authorization, pre-notification or pre-certification.
At Gunnison Valley Health, we submit the authorization to your insurance.
Authorization can take anywhere from three days to fourteen days.
If you want to know the average wait time or status of your pending authorization,

Insurance Authorization Timelines
Different insurance companies have different timelines and procedures for
how and when they authorization procedures. It is important that you check
with your insurance company to obtain the most up-to-date and accurate
information.

Gunnison Valley Health's process
An order is written by your provider and sent to the location you choose
to receive the service.
If that location is Gunnison Valley Health, the order will be processed
by the authorization team.
Once the authorization is approved, a Gunnison Valley Health representative
will call to schedule your appointment.
